Marina del Cantone, an open and sleepy bay, evocative refuge for those who love the wild sea and prefer to stay away from the better known resorts.
Ulysses and the Roman Emperors remained fascinated. Others before and after them tried to conquer it, and did so. Sung by poets and musicians, described by writers and painters, the great travellers of the last century, is the Sorrentine-Amalfitan Coast, a rush of rocks and precipices, of bays and coves, of picturesque villages and Mediterranean vegetation flanking the sea. From Vico Equense to Piano di Sorrento, then rising again to Sant'Agata sui due Golfi where a breathtaking view captures your gaze, undecided between two marvels such are the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. From Sant'Agata sui due Golfi one is tempted to reach the tiny islands of Li Galli or that splendid promontory, Punta della Campanella, from where it seems you can reach out and touch the island of Capri.
Heading down then along a narrow road that seems interminable, amid terraces of citrus and olives, passing through the tiny but fascinating village of Nerano and right there, when it seems that the road continues no further, by the sea and in a strategic position, almost at the centre of enchanted triangle of Sorrento, Capri and Positano: Marina del Cantone.
